Frankenbok was born in 1997 out of the
remnants of countless Melbourne bands dating back to about
1988. The initial line up was the definitive, hard-hitting
A-Team made up of Aaron, Tim and then singer Adam Glynn. These
were dudes that had seen many disciples come and go
so
they clung to one another like desperate men and started to
make a ruckus.
After recording their home made demo
and signing up Scott on the other guitar (to ensure that fat,
chunky sound) Bok began to gig around with a drum machine
while they searched endlessly for their very own pig skin
hitting freak. It wasn't until 1999 that Mick Morley was discovered
right
across the street. With that set in stone the boys pulled
out every last cent (and plenty of pocket lint) to pay for
the recording of their debut album Greetings and Salutations
which was released courtesy of their friend, producer and
mentor dw Norton on his own Faultline Records. Taking the
Australian metal scene by storm the Bok began to tour and
build their following and live reputation. After constant
hard work Frankenbok was signed to Dark Carnival Records towards
the end of 2000. What followed was 2001's heavy metal fruitcake
release: The Loopholes & Great Excuses E.P. This is where
Frankenbok received slight mainstream attention (?) with their
hard riffin', double kickin' version of Madison Avenue's "Don't
Call Me Baby" and saw them do lap after lap of Australia.
They couldn't get enough. In early 2002 the Greetings album
was re-released as a special edition (with new fandangle artwork
and 8 bonus live tracks recorded on the Frankenbok & Dreadnaught
Devastation Vacation) to tie them over until the gigging came
to a halt and song writing for the next album could be completed.
It was at the end of 2002 after many hurdles and trying times
on and off the road that Adam Glynn decided it was time to
step off the Bok train. Auditions began immediately and Adam
B Metal stepped up to take the reigns as front man, vocalist
and franken-family member.
B Metal was only in the band a matter
of weeks before more gigging and a small 'introduction to
the new dude' tour began. With the B man's help, pizzazz (and
friendly disposition) the new songs were finished and it was
time to hit good ole' Back Beach Studios again with dw at
the helm.
So now, with Blood Oath under their
belts it's time to hit the road
again.
