Alex is a musician who was born and
raised in Perth, Western Australia.
After joining his first band, the sound scape filled and melancholic
"Seraphim" in 2004 and reaching significant status
in the alternative scene, Alex was able to finally tend to
the music he was most passionate about, Metal.
From early to late 2005 Alex joined melodic death metal band
"Inter Alia". The band supported eastern states
band Grey Daturas and then left the band shortly after.
After that journey ended he joined 70's influenced death rock
band "Psychonaut". For two years Psychonaut played
a mass amount of shows around the Perth Metal and Rock scenes.
This band was where Alex really learned to hone his improvisational
skills as well as stamina as Psychonaut was heavily rooted
in Jam based sets. While still active in Psychonaut, in late
2006 he joined Doom/Melodic Death metal band "Noctis".
While Noctis has not been around long they have already proven
to be capable of competing with the big guns of their genre
after their release of their first ep For Future's Past. This
release saw Alex step up to large vocal harmony responsibilities
to give an extra dimension to their live shows.
While the end of 2007 saw the disbandment of Psychonaut, It
also provided Alex with the opportunity of joining melodic
metal power house VOYAGER. Within 1 month of joining, Alex
traveled to play shows in Melbourne and Sydney in what was
a hugely successful mini tour to promote the album uniVers.
In early 2008 Voyager completed their second european tour
playing shows in The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Switzerland.
2008 saw Alex win the Western Front award
for best bass player of 2007 and also took on the lead vocal
position for Noctis as well as maintaining bass duties. New
albums for Noctis and Voyager will be recorded in 2008 also.
Style: Alex currently uses 5 stringed
basses although the 4 string is where his heart will always
be. He plays with his fingers and loves to express his funk
influences by playing slap or adding quirkiness by finger
tapping.
