Spare Parts & Service Assistant

Location:CMI Head office, Brooklyn, Melbourne, Victoria.
Work type: Permanent
Work hours: 9am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday

We are currently recruiting for a Spare Parts & Service Assistant to join our busy team on site at our Brooklyn warehouse. The role will require the successful applicant to be available for work on a Full Time basis, 9am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Directly reporting to: Spare Parts & IT Manager (and as required) to the Service & Returned Goods Manager

Position Summary:

The successful applicant will be assisting the company's Spare Parts & IT Manager with regards to receiving and maintaining all spare parts within the warehouse, maintaining spare parts within our stock control system as well as cross-referencing the spare parts to the products we sell.
In addition to the above, you will be responsible for assisting our Service and Returned Goods Manager with inspecting goods returned to CMI for warranty claim, etc. by customers and then processing this stock or carrying out minor repairs as required.


Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining cross reference of spare parts database in Excel
  • Receiving, checking off and locating of spare parts and stock in warehouse when it arrives
  • Warehouse location and maintenance of spare parts inventory
  • Processing return authority claims with our OS suppliers
  • Following up repair status with our network of repairers
  • Testing and fault finding of products
  • Minor repairs/reassembly of products that have had parts previously removed for customer repairs
  • You will be responsible for the timely completion of the monthly stock return of our CE customer
  • Inspect, assess & photograph seconds stock for Ebay sales
  • Preparing of stock to be returned to OS manufacturer
  • Assisting Customer Service and the Service Manager as required, including any minor repairs to stock

The ideal candidate will preferably have the following skills:

  • Will require knowledge of electronic components, etc.
  • Will be required to be able to read a schematic competently
  • Will be capable of carrying out minor electrical repairs to electronic products (soldering skills will be highly regarded)
  • Will require skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong administrative and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work unsupervised & as part of a team
  • Be comfortable working in a team environment
  • Physically fit
