Children of Bodom rock Sydney & Melbourne

Finnish metal Gods – and ESP endorsees – Children Of Bodom were recently in Australia as part of their ‘Ugly World Tour’ and they took the time to partake in a couple of ‘meet-and-greets’ for their rabid fans in Sydney and Melbourne. Of course, many fans were keen to meet guitar hero and band driving-force, Alexi Laiho.

Check out the footage of Cranbourne's in-store!

First port of call was Cranbourne Music’s Melbourne city store on 9 November where a long queue formed in anticipation of getting close to the band in the small confines of the store and a huge number of happy fans had the opportunity to get autographs, some of whom brought or bought their guitars to be signed. ‘With the weather forecast for end-of-world conditions, I was praying that we would get fifty-plus people. In fact, over 200 fans turned out to see the band, which is awesome! We probably would have had more through the doors except that the line was so long down Latrobe street, some gave up!’ said Tim Coleman, manager of Cranbourne’s city store. ‘This event was great exposure for the store. ‘With that many fans queued up in a main city street all wearing black (the official colour of metal), it certainly drew some attention,’ he continued.

Two days later, it was Sydney’s turn with Icon Music in West Ryde also seeing a long queue and an excellent turnout to meet the band. ‘From our perspective it was a huge success. We probably had over a hundred people in attendance ranging from locals to inter-staters. We even had a car load of girls that drove down from Newcastle just for the signing,’ said store principal, Spencer Keast of the event which went a long way to giving their store great exposure to potential new customers and reinforced their credentials as a rock/metal-focussed store.

All-in-all a hugely successful pair of in-store appearances thanks to ESP Guitars and Children of Bodom. For more pics of the events, visit,

Brett Garsed on tour with John Farnham

Whispering Jack–John Farnham’s 12th studio album–was released on 20 October 1986 and–with sales of over 1.68 million units in Australia alone–it is Australia’s most successful album ever.

This October sees the 25th anniversary of the album’s release and to celebrate, John Farnham will embark on a national tour with his perennial touring band which, of course, includes Brett Garsed.
Not only is Brett in the band for the forthcoming tour, but it must be remembered that he was there at the core of this historic album, playing the guitars on Whispering Jack and joining John’s subsequent touring band at the time.

The album went on to be awarded 24 Platinum albums selling over 1.7million copies and spent 26 weeks at the No.1 spot on the ARIA charts. You’re the Voice also sold a million copies in Europe and reached the Top Ten in England.

For this tour, Brett will be using an Olympic White ESP Vintage Plus which he has found very impressive (pictured below), along with the brand new Digitech Whammy DT –of which Brett says: ‘The Digitech Whammy (DT) is amazing! Transposes flawlessly...’
