The Origin of The Galvatrons

Melbourne’s, 80s-inspired rising stars, The Galvatrons, took one of the first Origin synthesisers in Australia on their nationwide tour in support of Def Leppard and Cheap Trick, followed by a heavy schedule of festival dates over the months ahead. On the eve of their first show in WA, tour manager and FOH engineer Wil Burston reported, “Origin is currently sitting on the kitchen table of the apartment we have for the few days over here for the WA shows. So far they’ve managed to find all the sounds they were hoping it would provide and easily program their own. Christ it sounds amazing! I can’t wait to turn it up with about 48 double 18s a side underneath the PA and see just how she rumbles. Even in a pair of Beyer 770s, the depth of the bottom end is mad”. In the studio The Galvatrons’ synth-heavy brand of power-pop makes extensive use of Arturia’s virtual synth models. Origin arrived just in time to provide them with a pure hardware-based synth solution for the road without having to resort to the terrors of touring with the original analog classics or resorting to running soft synths on a laptop.
